I can't remember the last time I was showing Northbrook homes on New Year's Eve in a  thunderstorm. Wish me luck. I'll post a picture of us.

Rain, falling temperatures close out year

Rarely does Dec. 31 bring the month's highest temperature -- it's happened only four times in 140 years of Chicago temperature records -- but Friday's forecast high of 55 degrees is expected to be this month's highest reading and would be the highest since 67 degrees on Nov. 22. It's a temperature more typical of the second week of April. Rain and even a few thunderstorms are likely to complete Friday's weather picture, but the scene changes abruptly Friday night as a fresh blast of cold air sends temperatures crashing 30 degrees into the middle 20s Saturday morning.

Be cautious of short sales. They can be a good deal, but there are usually strings attached as well as emotional baggage that can be an emotional drain for the buyer. Go into it with an attitude of "if it was meant to be, then it will work out." Otherwise, you are in for a headache and disappointment.

Prairie Grass Cafe is a hit!

Looking for a trendy, casual dining experience for a business group or date night? My husband and I went to Prairie Grass Cafe, Northbrook on Saturday night. It was comfortably busy, nice ambiance and amazing Lamb Sausage. Derek had eaten this entree twice before, but this was my first time here. He almost overhyped it but it sure was yummy. So was the homemade pumpkin pie. But my favorite part of the meal was actually the blue cheese salad. Perfect textures and a generous portion. Try this restaurant out, you won't be disappointed!
